The hardened setting is just a check, it won't affect the print. As @Koen Kooi it will just nag you to continue or abort otherwise. There is a setting in the printer to turn off g-code validation to make these warnings go away but I don't recommend it.

The hardened setting tells Slicer to not nag you if you are printing an abrasive filament. Of course, the filament profile needs to be marked as an abrasive filament for this all to work together.
It's Prusa's attempt to pander to the new 3d print customers they are accumulating. Like all the other "Are you sure?" prompts for anything you try to do.
