Filtration fan not running when printing ABS

Here is my filtration settings, and the fan is not running when I print ABS.

I am pretty sure the hardware is installed correctly, because if I change Filtration Fan in photo#3 from auto to an explicit number, I can clearly hear fan start running.

What Fan are u talking about? Those two fans inside C1 chamber are deactivated after adv. hepa filtration is activated. Only high pressure blower in hepa filtration box is active. Not sure, but i think it has rpm sensor, so it will tell u if its not moving. U cant see it moving (its in the box), u just can feel the flow at downside on hepa box

I suggest checking the filament list in your printer (not in apps). There, you can individually change the list and order of visible types, and set their parameters.

I am talking about the advanced filtration fan, not the chamber fan. I am aware that the chamber fan will not run when the filtration box is installed.

I also checked the filament settings on the printer, and ABS does require filtration.

Recently I saved a customized ABS filament profile in Prosa Slicer, where I adjusted the bed temp and retraction based on the generic ABS profile. I am not sure if it's because the customized filament profile did something wrong...

RE: Filtration fan not running when printing ABS

The advanced filtration system does not recirculate the air so when the chamber temperature is at or below the setpoint for the selected filament the fan will not run while printing.  Since ABS requires a warm chamber it is unlikely that the fan will run during the print (the fan running would cool the chamber).  The fan may run post-print depending upon the settings for post-print filtration in order to exhaust the chamber air through the filter prior to opening the door.

Steve

Thanks Steve, that sounds reasonable to me.

I know coreone is a enclosed printer, but the enclosure still has gaps, if the filtration fan does not run, will the hazardous air just come out from the printer?

RE: Filtration fan not running when printing ABS

In my limited experience so far I have not noticed any significant odors from the printer when using filaments that should be filtered.  There is no significant airflow out of the box while the printer is running (no pressure differentials so other than some potential convection currents no appreciable air movement).  As long as you remember to close the vent on the top of the chamber I doubt you will notice any significant odors.  If the fan does not run to filter the chamber post-print (or if you don't wait) you will definitely notice some odors when you open the door.

Some people have gone to the trouble of sealing seams and such in an attempt to make the box airtight but to my mind that creates a new problem in that there is nowhere for clean, cool air to enter when the fan runs which would pretty dramatically reduce the effectiveness of the filter on the back.

Regards,

Steve

Whether a filament type requires filtration or not is set in the firmware under filament management. If you edit a filament and scroll drop, there is a slider called "Requires Filtration" Not in front of my printer but I believe that is what it says. Next, regardless of whether or not you have a HEPA filter installed you need proper ventilation in the room the printer is in. Some types of filaments can produce fumes that mimic flu like symptoms and can be quiet dangerous to be around. The printer either needs a fume extractor or at minimum be next to a window with an exhaust fan.

RE:

Try control -> temp -> filtration (using czech language, so maybe its not accurate, but u will find it :))...set filtration fan to 100, to hear it. To eliminate fan malfunction...then u know its fw thing...mine is working as it should (6.4.0)
