Excessive Y axis homing

During system calibration it takes many cycles of it beating itself up to home the y axis, on z and x it is quick.  And on my current print it seems to go on multiple loops on homing and eventually I just stop the job because it is on its 4th or 5th cycle and won't complete calibration.  Is this normal behavior to take so many tries to calibrate?

Is your Core One a kit or factory assembled? Usually excessive homing is caused by the belts being too loose or the gantry being bent.

Yes it’s a kit.   I suspect I didn’t tighten the belts enough because the instructions with that audio feedback piece are so hard to follow for me. What is the most current way to tighten the belts? Does it require a certain firmware update?

The belt tension article at https://help.prusa3d.com/article/adjusting-belt-tension-core-one-l-core-one_845048 is the most recent, and requires updated firmware.

If you are having trouble with the phone app for tensioning the belts it's either because the belts are too loose or too tight. I would start by completely loosening the belts, check that the gantry is square then evenly tension the belts by turn the left and right screws always by an equal amount. Failing to do so could possibly bend the gantry. Don't worry about getting exact 98hz/92hz tension. In fact trying to do so will result in bending the gantry. As long as both belts are around 95hz you are good to go. Again, check that after tensioning that the gantry is still square.

The new belt tuner with the 6.4.0-RC is much easier to use if you don't have a problem with running pre-release firmware. I've been running it for close to 2 months without any major issues.
