I'm about your age, and even at the end of 2025, there are still plenty of things that aren't automatic... Glad you solved your problem; these 3D printers are very demanding in terms of settings and software. And above all, you really need to study the documentation that's floating around here and there on the internet. But if you want to throw yours away, I'd gladly take it out of the trash...

Problem Solved I'll swallow my pride to admit that the problem was that I hadn't been keeping up with firmware upgrades which I had assumed were automatic. The latest firmware not only solved my pressing issue, but it appears that printing is both more efficient and faster. Thank you Prusa.

Which printer profile are you using?
Good question … first, thanks for the quick response, second, I was born well before WW2, so I still struggle with all this tech stuff a bit.

So I probably (mistakenly) assumed that by just switching FILAMENT choices between original path which allowed all functions to occur perfectly with a single filament. I thought was changing the printer profile.
Then by selecting MMU filament wakes the unit and off we go with multi color printing. I’m playing with arty stuff like HueForge and the like, so having this versatility and flexibility is very important.

But as you can see in the above added post, I’ve decided that the problem seems to be baked into the firmware. Therefore that was going to be my next question … Would a second usb flashed unmodded restore original path or mess with the revised extruder?

To sort of test this, I sliced a small two layer part in Orca, transferred the file via thumb drive. It failed in exactly the same way as described above, also after shutdown I had to do a couple of restarts to get everything back to normal which made me a little tense.

Hopefully this all makes sense.

Edit to Add: Tried printing two layer filament change with a "clean" prusa slicer having no link to MMU3 settings ..... giving the same result. (clean removal with the only option to resume, was disable filament sensor and resume print with no new filament) Tried to insert load gcode at layer change before slicing ... no luck there. This leads me to think that MMU3 has messed with the firmware Nobody told me that installing MMU3 would disable some basic functions of CoreOne. In this case, I just wanted a quick way to produce a small two color/layer text part without unloading and reloading MMU3. If there is no solution other than changing printers, I would like to know as enough time has been wasted to date.

My core one with a MMU3 and a wye splitter to print in conventional path, will not enable a clean manual color swap mid print. At tis time it will pause, enable the removal of the current filament, and that is it.

Nowhere can I find a way to cleanly (manually) install the new color like one would expect in a conventional printer without a MMU3 installed.

Simply out of ideas after hours of failed attempts.
