Chamber light dimming
I recently got my Core One upgrade done and have noticed that the chamber lights never seem to dim.
I found the "user interface setting" and set the idle intensity to 1%, but haven't noticed any changes to the actual brightnesss.
Any suggestions about what I'm missing?
Thanks
RE:
Lights settings
The lighting settings have been reworked to offer more precise control over the printer’s status and chamber illumination.Chamber dimming behavior can be set to one of three modes:
Always – dimming is active even during printing
On Idle – dimming only occurs when the printer is not printing
Never – dimming is completely disabled, regardless of other settings
Additionally, the chamber light settings have been expanded. You can now fine-tune both the standard and dimmed brightness levels separately, allowing for more flexible lighting behavior during different printer states. The option to toggle the RGB status bar under the heatbed on or off has also been moved into this menu.

To be on the safe side, I'll add:
- the door must be closed, otherwise it won't dim
- it takes a while for the light to dim

RE: Chamber light dimming
Thanks for the info, but the functionality doesn't seem to work for me. I can dim the lights in standard mode, but they never dim in idle (I do have that setting to IDLE).
It's possible it's some user (me) du-oh, but I don't think so. Hmm.
RE: Chamber light dimming
I have the same problem. I came from firmware 6.3.3 when received. It then worked. Soon upgraded to 6.3.5a and it worked too.
But after doing an factory reset it does not work anymore.
I think i will flash 6.3.3 back to see if it works and then upgrade to 6.3.5.a again.
RE: Chamber light dimming
Do you really have the printer door closed "when idle"?
The light doesn't go out right away, it takes a few minutes.
I have no problem with that (FW 6.3.4)

RE: Chamber light dimming
Yes. Before it was dimming with printing. Today it was notndimming at all
RE: Chamber light dimming
I was wondering, do you have a set value to which the light should dim?

RE: Chamber light dimming
Yes. 40% it always dimmed to 40% while printing after one or two minutes.
I recalbirsted door sensor.
Turned camera off in menu. (It was always on)i hard reset it twice and flashed 6.3
0 and them back to 6.3.5a.
The strange thing is. It look it is keeping some settings.
RE:
I am an idiot.
It is working again.
Like you sad:
"Always" means it is always dimming. During print, during whatever. This is the needed option.
On Idle – dimming only occurs when the printer is not printing (I have no idea when this is. Maybe after a ong time in the main menu?)
Never – dimming is completely disabled, regardless of other settings.
RE: Chamber light dimming
I rechecked the function on my printer.
"Always" dimming works as expected. I can set the light level and it changes with "chamber lights" percentage
"On Idle" doesn't seem to work at all. Rechecked door switch calibration and manually actuated the switch. I'm not sure what the timing is, but I've waited an hour or more between checks. I have a big offset between the two settings. 100% for "chamber lights" and 10% for "chamber lights dimmed"
I have 6.3.4 firmware

Could it be some network traffic in the background which the firmware also considers as "activity", resetting the idle timeout? Maybe repeat the test with WiFi disabled.
(If network activity should indeed play a role, I would consider that a programming error, or at least an unfortunate design decision. Only direct interactions with the front panel or the door switch should affect the dimming-on-idle in my opinion.)
RE:
I dont know what they define as "idle"
I think it is the status like in prise connect where your printer is in "idle"
Anyway. It is not working. In idle nothing is happening. That the problem i had too.
I changef it to always because i dont need much light. En when i need it i turn the knog and it will go brighter.
Even camera @40% dimming is fine. Even in color mode.
RE: Chamber light dimming
I did a factory reset and loaded 6.35A -- no change.
Prusa chat suggested a slightly different process, but I haven't been able to get it to run (and I'm not sure what the difference is from a factory reset).
Has anyone else used this sequence?
-Immediately after a restart, press the selector repeatedly until you see the Flash menu. -Press and hold the FLASH option -After holding it a few seconds you will see a "Don't panic" screen, press Erase"
