Buddy Camera Disconnect
Good day to you all!
I'm having a bit of a problem with my buddy camera on my core one.
When I print ASA and have the chamber temp going up to anywhere between 40 and 60c the buddy camera will disconnect and refuse to connect again until I reboot it by pulling the usb c out of the back and plugging it back in.
Is this a faulty camera or operating as intended and it's just overheating and turning off to not damage it?
RE: Buddy Camera Disconnect
The camera is rated to 65C as per Prusa's specs. There's certain to be a little margin on top of that for most Buddy Cameras.
Do you have an SD card installed? If so, try running the print without the card. Even without actually using the card, it's a point of temp failure.
I doubt it self-protects on temperature. 65C isn't hot enough to physically damage components but it is hot enough to cause marginal electronics to shift and SW/FW crashes because of it.
I've run PCCF filament and the chamber temp is within the range you mentioned. No Buddy Camera issues. If it persists, it might be time to contact support.
RE: Buddy Camera Disconnect
I typically run my chamber at 55C which is the max I can get it to. The thermistor for the chamber is between the chamber fans near the top in the back. Wondering if the chamber temp is consistent
RE: Buddy Camera Disconnect
I have the temp for ASA set to 45c and I'm printing a present for my roommate so I have a blanket over it which is causing the temps to get to 65ish. So if you want a hotter chamber there's my secret lol
RE: Buddy Camera Disconnect
Yes that was one of the things I tried, taking the microsd out. Still fails. Looks like I'm gonna contact support today 🙂
