What filament DRYER setup would you use Core One + Coreboxx premium
I currently have the Core One, I have ordered the Coreboxx Premium, couple days until I get the MMU3 delivered. I want to know what you would use to Dry the filaments?
Is there a way to dry them all inside the coreboxx? Is it internal or external?
Any photos of your setup and advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks community
RE: What filament DRYER setup would you use Core One + Coreboxx premium
- you want a dryer with an active fan and a temperature setting slightly below 50°C for PLA, higher for other filaments. I personally use the cheapest eSun dryer and put two of these cheap hygrometers inside the spool.
Open the lid, control the hygrometers and rotate the spool a bit every 3-8 hours, until the hygrometers won't go lower anymore. Works very well for PLA, PETG and TPU. Didn't try other filaments yet.
- since you can't really heat the CoreBox to the needed temperatures, I'd recommend to dry each spool before putting it in there and print some baskets for silica gel and two holders for hygrometers.
Then buy 1-2 kg of clear silica gel balls and fill up the baskets. Look at the various AMS mods to get an idea. I guess there are also mods for the CoreBox, I didn't look yet.
When the hygrometers go above 25%, take out the baskets, put the silica gel into a very heat resistant ceramic deep-plate and dry it in the microwave. Carefully!!!
Silica gel with indicators can release very bad gases, if becoming too hot, so just look up how to dry it safely and buy the clean balls in bigger packaging (low watts, checking every minute with a sheet of paper for humidity etc).
I don't have the MMU, but friends with a P1S + AMS do it like I said and I'm using single cereal boxes with clean silica gel cages.

Thank you for the detailed response!
RE:
I tried two dryboxes, one with silicagel, one Sunlu with a heating element. Both work unsatisfactory in my environment (60% humidity) I have bought a food dehydrator and fabricated a cardboard box instead of the inserts, This works great to dry the spools which I then store in a vacuum sealer bag (sealed but not vacuum as the hole in the middle will pop the bag as it's emptied (loud bang!))
I might consider a enclosed mmu like the coreboxx but may wait until the next gen solution.
Loving the learning curve!

Good to know, I can skip the issues whith those options, thanks!
I was looking at this one:
Anyone have any experience with this one?
I Live in Arizona, right now humidity is high at 37% but normally it is around 15%.

Coreboxx looks really nice, but I'm not sure it's the answer today if you want to print stuff that really needs to stay dry (where printing from a drier is the answer)

Yeah, I am going to inquire if there is a dryer I can create for the Coreboxx. Hopefully there is already a solution if not I may look at creating one.

Maybe not idea but its working pretty good for what I already had on hand. I use this box more as a dry box because it has a seal and room for a big bag of desiccant. The filament loads fine. I don't know how well flex would do and I'm not sure how difficult that would be with the Core One without a box. I have a dedicated printer for flex anyway.
