RE: The Core One Kit Waiting List

Every time I've had to pay duty it's always been online

Last December I had my order for nearly a week before I was asked to pay by Fedex

Previously I think the email asking for payment arrived before parcels entered the country - so was no delay

Posted by: @ratlet

Anyone from the UK know if you can pay the import duty online to avoid delays?

Mines being delivered to me (UK) on Thursday. It's a bit longer than the 2-4 days delivery I paid for, but I've waited over 2 months for this printer so another couple of days won't hurt.

I've also paid for the VAT, DHL sent me a link to it earlier so thats everything done now from my side.

At the risk of sounding a bit thick, when you say that you have now paid for the vat, was that not included in the purchase price originally?

Well Prusa show the the price including VAT, £874, but they only take £729 at the time of purchase…the rest you have to pay to the delivery company, DHL in this case, who then pass it to the government.

I’ve no idea why it’s done this way, on lower amounts the VAT is included and taken by Prusa at the time of purchase.

As this printer will be used for my business I’ll be claiming the VAT back when the time comes.

Did you pay immediately?
Maybe the order of shipment depends on the time of payment and not the time when you create the order. My order is from 17:10, confirmation received at 17:11. But the webpage hanged and I was not able to pay or even log again. I processed the payment two hours later at 19:17. Now I am in batch 2.

I've been waiting (somewhat) patiently for the Core One kit as my first printer since my 2012 Thing-o-matic. But unless I'm mistaken, if the tariffs are still in place when batch 7 ships, I'll be paying an extra $200 when it hits U.S. shores.

Not sure I can afford that, especially when already paying $200 for shipping, when compared to a reasonably priced MK4S kit from PrintedSolid.

Not Prusa's fault of course, I'm glad I'm able to upgrade in the future.

Thanks for your reply.

On my order they have taken the lot in one go, including vat.

Mine comes in at something like? £947 which included the camera and filtration system which I have since cancelled to hopefully speed up shipping, they have since refunded the amount for the cancelled parts.

Yes, iirc from 16:00 to 16:10 the whole site was extremely slow and unresponsive…then around 16:10 the site just refreshed. It just worked and allowed me to order, so I smashed my payment details in super quick and completed the order as it was clear the whole site was creaking.
Then a minute or so later after I got confirmation email I went back to the site and it was just completely offline for the best part of an hour I think.

Barclays in the UK were having massive IT problems with payments that entire weekend…I’d spoke to them earlier in the day and the said they had absolutely no idea if payments would even be successful due to their outages.

To say I was relieved is a massive understatement.

My understanding is the reason is because if the order total value (including postage) is less than £135 from EU - then the retailer charges VAT  (and has to be UK VAT registered ), over that amount and there can be customs fees on top so VAT needs to be done during import stage.

Loving the enthusiasm, are all the screws 'beer' tight and in the right places? 😅

Printing scheduled for this afternoon, falling asleep also scheduled 🤣

Take your time! I find the instructions to be lacking many checks that appear necessary. No attention is paid at all to the axes being orthogonal (X vs. Y, Y vs. Z). And the overconstrained guides (two parallel rods in Y, two parallel rods plus lead screws in Z) are just slapped together within assembly tolerances, hoping for the best.

I have added several comments to the build instructions at the respective steps, and will write a summary post in the "assembly instructions" thread here once I am done with the build.

Please keep us in touch regarding print quality and noises once you're done! 🙂

I got a shipping confirmation🙈

Unfortunately it's only the BuddyCam for the Core One 😅

Thanks. My XL was delivered as a kit with a complete CoreXY assembly. Looking at the CoreOne instructions I now see this kit needs much more assembly steps.

I'm actually glad to see that I am in Batch 11 so it will take 'a few' weeks before I receive mine.
This not only means I have some time to get settled in my new job but also most likely will result in some bugs fixed on the way.

Oh nice, just noticed I got bumped from batch 11 to 10. That means I might get my kit 3 weeks earlier than expected.
On the other hand it's sad when realizing this most likely means people are canceling orders....
Yes, I could have had a Bamboo or RatRig already but I specifically selected the Core One for a few reasons, "made in the EU" being one of them and Prusa quality another one.

A bit of resonances on Y.

Good on X

Both belts tuned at 85hz, X axis without belt tension "hand aligned to make it square", both sides reach the tensioner at same time.

Nothing that an accelerometer can't fix.

Thank you for your answer. Then I hope that the last resonances will also disappear with the accelerometer.

Yes, mostly ringing artefacts at the edges, which better-tuned input shaping should take care of. Do you have an accelerometer to do that? Once those overshoots are gone, I am really curious about the VFA performance. Looking at the 3rd picture, there might be some?

I still have to put the acrylic (?) panes on mine, then turn it on. But first, it's garden, sunlight and coffee for me. 🙂
