Startup procedure for printing takes way too long

It takes around 14 minutes before starting to print PETG in a 20 celcius degrees room.

Can we do something about it ? This is crazy.

Are you on the 6.3.4 firmware yet? They made the "heat absorption" cycle more adaptive and I barely notice it nowadays. Especially for consecutive prints where things are warmed up.

You could also comment the following line out from the custom G-code to skip the "heat soak" if you are confident it's not needed:

G29 G ; absorb heat

It should be noted too in order to do this, you will need to use the slicer in expert mode.

I've commented out that line myself, too. I am on latest FW, which supposedly have this heat cycle more adaptive, but i didn't notice any (big) difference, heat absorption pause is still there, also immediately after long print, when it should really totally cancel it. I'm sure that after 1-2 hour print whole printer is warm enough, but printer still waits for this (annoying) heat absorption.

I don't see any difference in my prints. I guess it could be important/visible if room temperature would be low, like 10 degree Celsius or lower, while at 20+ it's absolutely not important.

20 minutes for heating and heat soak is pretty good.

RE:

I don't understand why my A1 Mini starts a print with similar conditions in less than 5 minutes (with 80 degrees bed).

I think it's fair to wait 5 minutes for a PETG print to start, but 15 min doesn't make any sense.

Does the Mini starts printing as soon as its bed and nozzle reach the target temperatures or is it some stabilization waiting time?

- no chamber to heat up
- no stabilization time for perfect dimensional accuracy (independent of room temperature)
- maybe less accurate probing

You can disable the waiting time in the start g-code and if there's some minimum chamber temp. set in the filament profile, also disable that (0°C).
I stored a "quick start" printer profile that does all that and it's very quick.
If you're interested, I can upload a project with all settings included 🙂
