Prusa Core One+ in an IKEA Pax wardrobe
Merry Christmas to all of you!
As a long-time user of a Prusa MK3s, I am planning to switch to a new printer. My current MK3s is housed in an Ikea Pax wardrobe (50 x 58 x 236 cm), which works very well. I have been considering switching to an MK4s, as I know it has the same space requirements. But during my research I stumbled upon the new Core One+ and thought this could also be an adequate improvement. But will it fit into the Ikea Pax? The filament spool is located on the side of the printer, which would of course be inconvenient in the Pax. Can I also attach/position the spool above the printer? Would this be possible with the filament feed? I would appreciate any information. Thanks in advance.
regards, Patrick
RE: Prusa Core One+ in an IKEA Pax wardrobe
The core one is already in an enclosure, but I'll assume you have your reasons for wanting to put it inside another one.
The filament path enters on the right-side heading upward and toward the rear of the printer. Within perhaps 10-20cm of the entrance, it goes through the first sensor (a 3d-printed part + electronics). From there it's routed along with the head-umbilical to left, then back right to meet the head. So, if you were willing to live without (or modify) the top cover of the printer, moving the start of the path to the top is technically possible. You'd need to remove/reinstall the sensor somewhere outside the printer, and deal with it's wiring somehow. Otherwise I don't think there's anything preventing you from doing this.
Note: I purchased a pre-assembled printer so I haven't exposed myself to the "guts" very much. I could easily be missing something important.

I have my spool above my printer - no modification needed.
I placed a short PTFE tube into the side filament sensor as normal - a couple of inches long though - and use a PTFE coupler so that I can easily detach the PFTE leading to my spool. You can just about see the couple sticking out the side of the printer in the below image.
You could easily do something similar in a pax wardrobe......

Thank you for the replies. Going to give it a try and already ordered a Core One kit. Hopefully, I won't regret the decision to replace my old but trusty MK3s. Read the comments in the forum and there seem to be mixed experiences with Core One series.
