Yeah im tempted to build a smallish Voron, get a kit with a basic hot end with the view to put INDX on it eventually.

 The nozzles do have an identification chip on them which will make it a PITA (I would guess) for 3rd parties to manufacture but as to whether or not they are locked down, don't know but it's funny to think about. Given that BL appears to be moving that way. 

It’s sole purpose is to stop third party nozzles being sold, behind the mask of safety.

Well, it does enable some nice convenience features. The printer can automatically recognize which nozzles you have installed -- and not only which nozzle types (diameters, hardness), but also which particular specimens if you have multiple nozzles of the same type. I.e. the printers knows which filament color they had loaded last.

Makes me hate them even more if this is the case.

I still think comparing my C1 to a H2D is like comparing a Volkswagen Beatle to a Tesla. But after 2 months of no issues (other than user error), I'm starting to appreciate the Soviet/steampunk esthetic. Less to go wrong I suppose. Now waiting for my INDX to arrive and thinking about what to do my extra Nextruder and nozzles.
