XL is multimaterial and/or multicolour by design. It has up to 5 printheads for different materials and/or colours. It does not need MMU.

You can also already get MK4S with MMU. Which is pretty much as good option as Core One with MMU.

Hello Prusa People again!

What can be expected when the core xl is available with the multimaterial upgrade? This year, next year?
and if i buy the xl now, will there be an upgrade and what would the cost of that be?
I really need a printer with more than one color and really like to stick with prusa, but if it takes too long i go for another brand.

Yes i know. i had the bambulab. but im using this professionally for customers in product development. There is no chance i can use a printer where the security of the files is not ensured. im actually not allowed legally to use such a system.
Now i have to go with prusa, but it seems it is not capable.

I have both a BambuLab and a Prusa MMU3.

Bambu AMS is 'cleaner'. Reliable. Setup is more self contained and neater with rewinding spools etc. No buffer required. However it cuts filament with every change, meaning it has to purge the entire nozzle from old filament, and then the new on top. This is why you get the filament 'poop' as well as a wipe tower. It is very wasteful and I only use it for items where I need the first few layers in colour only - coasters, nameplates, etc.

The MMU3 is a little more 'raw'. Also very reliable. Completed a print just now with 608 tool changes, and not a single error - all completed perfect with no hassle. Setup needs further thought and uses a separate buffer system (although solutions available online, and Prusa are making their own neater solution too). Because there is no cutting - it pulls back the entire filament from the nozzle - it's almost like a cold pull with every change, so keeps everything 'clean'. And because of that wastage is much less - no 'poop' - just a wipe tower. I use the MMU3 for most of my multicolour prints due to the lower wastage. I find it very reliable, and other then for the odd loading of new filament, I never have to intervene at all during a print. I also use it for single colour prints - its just easier knowing your favourite colours are already in place - no loading/unloading all the time!

Core One support for the MMU3 is coming. They are finalising how it will attach to the printer, and the spool arrangement design etc. The MMU3 unit itself will remain the same as it is now - whats different is the way it attaches to the new physical printer.....

How does the core one function with the MMU? can i expect a quality and functionality of a bambulab?
Why cant i order it with a MMU?
What about a camera, how can i add this to my order?
Can i test the printer?
