MK4S to Prusa CORE One Conversion kit and "silver" power supply

Hi,

I have been upgrading an MK3 to the latest model for several years now. Now I'm about to upgrade from the MK4S to the Core One. However, the article page states that the kit is not compatible with the silver power supply unit.

Now I'm wondering - what is the difference between the two power supplies that ultimately makes them incompatible? The mechanical dimensions are the same. So is the performance. The connections may vary slightly, but since cables are screwed on anyway, it can't be that.

That leaves the arrangement of the power switch and the IEC socket. But I can't imagine that this will be a problem either. Do any of you have an idea what the criterion could be?

Thanks,

Stefan

+1 for the same question! I've gone from MK2/S to MK3/S/+ to MK3.9/S (and will be getting the X and Y steppers to make it a full MK4S). I would love to upgrade to the Core One after a bit of time, if they don't force me to replace my silver PSU!

Good morning,

I think I have found the reason why the silver power supply is not compatible with the conversion kit:

The silver power supply is attached to the back of the frame with two vertical screws. The black power supply, on the other hand, is attached with two horizontal screws below the terminals.

As long as the assembly instructions have not yet been published, it is not possible to say whether the silver power supply unit can be fitted after all.

Thanks,

Stefan

Isn't it related to the power panic feature?

The older silver versions had a seperate print, whereas the black ones have it integrated.

I also believe Lennert is correct in his assumption about the power panic being the reason. As in the mk3.9 upgrades i did i had to specify i had the silver psu. Which then in turn gave me an compatible wiring harnas to connect that silver PSU. Something Prusa is not doing for the Core One upgrade.
