MK4S to Core One Conversion Manual.
The build manual is up!!!
RE: MK4S to Core One Conversion Manual.
I‘m wondering if I need to modifiy the nextruder of my MK4S with MMU3, or if i can leave it as it is.
RE: MK4S to Core One Conversion Manual.
Did I miss the instructions for the older type of display? The version I clicked though seems to have only the steps for the newer display version...
RE: MK4S to Core One Conversion Manual.
You can print as usual without MMU3. Just needed to be disabled on menu 🙂
RE: MK4S to Core One Conversion Manual.
Excellent, just ordered some new steel rods, and I can rebuild the remaining parts as MK3S.
RE: MK4S to Core One Conversion Manual.
Looking through the manual super quickly, it looks like you don't need to do anything to the extruder minus remove the fans and cage. Everything else stays the same. What I do not know is how the cable feeds to the buddy board.
RE: MK4S to Core One Conversion Manual.
Chapter 6, step 17 and on.
RE: MK4S to Core One Conversion Manual.
There is no mention of what to do about Nextruders that have already had MMU3 modifications. Should they be reverted to stock or used as is? I think the differences are: baseplate, idler arm, latch, filament sensor.
MK4S/MMU3
RE: MK4S to Core One Conversion Manual.
I didn't see any mention of this but just want to be sure.
We don't need to pre-print any parts for this conversion, correct?

RE: MK4S to Core One Conversion Manual.
The guide mentions that you may want to print a new lubrication pacifier for the bearings you will be re-using, but that's it:

RE: MK4S to Core One Conversion Manual.
My admittedly vague recollection is that both the MK4S conversion and the MMU3 conversion modified the Nextruder using the same parts -- so if you have an MK4S with or without an MMU3, you should be all set. (This could probably be confirmed by looking at the documentation for the MK4S and MMU3.)

Correct

Thanks.

I actually already removed my MMU3 prior to receiving the Core One as I wanted to move it across, but I'm not so sure now. Thinking of keeping the Core One single colour and putting the MMU3 back on the MK4s!
Anyways, in your situation I would leave the plate as its a 'harder wearing' one anyways, but would remove the idler and replace with the original filament sensor (spring/magnet/ball) configuration. It only takes a few minutes and could rule out any possible issues later. If I weren't filming my build to create the video guide I would have stuck the plate and o-ring that comes with the MMU3 kit into my Core One Nextruder TBH - personally I think this should be a standard part.
RE: MK4S to Core One Conversion Manual.
Looking at everything that comes out, and the items you are left with after the conversion, I feel I'd rather buy the kit and keep the MK4s as it is......
RE: MK4S to Core One Conversion Manual.
Hi,
I think my bearings and rods still work good on the MKS4. Are you thinking off replacing them in advance just to be on the safe side ?
What ist the usual lifetime in printing hours of these parts ?
best regards
Ralf
RE: MK4S to Core One Conversion Manual.
Wonder if it comes with the new core one print sheet. I don't see it pictured in the "things to keep" from mk4s disassembly
RE: MK4S to Core One Conversion Manual.
I looked at my rods and they looked fine. I did order replacement trapezoid nuts and bearings as they're not that expensive. Rods are an additional $50, so unless necessary I wouldn't.
