High Temp Printing - vent closure
Courtesy of my newly acquired Core One I've just expanded my horizons beyond the world of PLA & PETG.
I started my first PC print and while I was observing the antics of the Core one (and dutifully closing the vents at the top of the enclosure as instructed) I noticed that, understandably, the fans at the top of the enclosure weren't spinning. OK, I thought, that makes sense, we want to maintain the temperature inside the enclosure ... but wait a minute, if we've gone to the trouble of closing the vents at the top, why isn't there a similar mechanism for blocking the exhaust ports for the fans - surely all the heated air is now escaping through the fan holes?
...anyone got an explanation?
RE: High Temp Printing - vent closure
I did some measurements here and there with a temp probe, and it was surprisingly little hot air that escapes that way, i couldnt see any difference with flaps closed. The majority of heat is coming through the top of the printer, so if you want to keep the heat in put a little blanket on the top :). Though i might put flaps back for the winter time when it will struggle with the chamber temps just to be sure.
RE: High Temp Printing - vent closure
Thank you both for your help - I think a combination of the two will do nicely ... a blanket on the top that drops down to cover the fan port...yes I am a 'cheapskate' 😁
