Door sensor issue
I have seen two separate posts one on facebook other on youtube different people, with a door issue. Apparently, if you pause a print and open the door the printer freaks out or some such. I don't have my unit but it is en route and should be here in a day or two. People are saying this is a "known" issue and there is a "known" way to avoid this. Others said "disable door sensor until an update has a fix. First question, where is this "list of known issues" with " known work arounds"? so I can be informed with my new unit. (I am new to Prusa). Is there instructions for disable sensor? Is it just put a tap over it or.. unplug or code?
RE: Door sensor issue
It happened during a livestream by 3D Musketeers and someone from Prusa was watching. They stated it's a known issue and being worked on. I don't have an exact timestamp but it was during his first look/unboxing. That's where the known issue/being worked on comes from. You can also check the Prusa firmware github for issues and their status.
The conditions that cause the door opening crash are as follows: "it only occurs when you have the door switch enabled and hit the pause button AND open the door before before it fully pauses" per Grant at 3d Musketeers
As for disabling the door sensor, it's a menu option on the printer. I don't have mine yet so I can't tell you exactly how to get there, but it's in the options to disable the door pause.
RE: Door sensor issue
There is an open issue for the door opening crash on github and an employee stated it should be fixed in the next firmware update.
RE: Door sensor issue
Thank you, so very helpful.
RE: Door sensor issue
I plan to disable the door sensor as I often open the door while printing. I don't want that to pause the print.
RE: Door sensor issue
This will be my first printer with doors. I have been using a small open cartesian. This printer will be a new one for me on many fronts. I am used to being able to muck around the print bed while it prints.
RE: Door sensor issue
Same here - will disable it straight away. I don't want it pausing, parking, and then resuming, leaving a zit on my print, all because I opened the door! Would rather it continues regardless. I appreciate it from a safety perspective - but even then, if a child was to open the door, the hotend is still hot, and the head is still moving to the front right corner (surely it should go to the rear end), so not really so safe regardless.......
