Core One Periodic Maintenance

Hi everyone.

I'm new to 3D printing. I've had my Core One since August of this year, having bought it as a kit.

Overall, I'm pleased with the print quality (though I don't have direct comparisons with prints from other printers). In addition to PLA and PETG, I've also printed with ASA and haven't had any major issues. So far, I've only been wiping off dust and checking the belt tension occasionally, but I'm wondering if it's time for some more thorough maintenance, like physically cleaning the nozzle, lubricating the gantry, or something else?

I'd like to hear from more experienced colleagues how you maintain your printers and how often you inspect individual components?

RE: Core One Periodic Maintenance

The official handbook and regular maintenance help page are good places to start. Handbook chapter 11 explains regular maintenance required.

I consider the following as 'required basic maintenance':

  • Cleaning any debris and dirt building up
  • Cleaning the nozzle with a brush
  • Cleaning the printsheets regularly with IPA and sporadically with soap and water

Need for lubrication, belt adjustment and general tightening of screws etc. depends on use, but it is good thing to check these every now and then.

At some point there is a need to replace some consumable parts such as bowden tubes and printsheets, but it is not something that you will encounter that quickly.

@k4mk41  look here:

Regular printer maintenance (CORE One) | Prusa Knowledge Base:  https://help.prusa3d.com/article/regular-printer-maintenance-core-one_829710

But keep in mind (and dont, make the same mistake, I made):

Lubricating the linear rail every 3-6 months, using the dedicated linear rails lubrication set. (a set that includes Microlube GL 261, Dosing needle SSS15 2, Cartridge with manual piston 2/2,5mm, and two nitrile gloves. )

On linear rails, DO NOT use Prusa Lubricant or other products that are not part of the linear rails lubrication set.
