RE: Core One MMU3 Prototypes
I use the Prusa Buffer. Works. Every. Time. The rewinders tend to be finicky.
No one's that uses MMU daily uses buffer.
You have a bunch of options to get rid of that unnecesary part.
- Filamentalist (silent)
- Gravity Spool Holder (silent) or variant.
- Autorewind.... (noisy)
Wondering if I could mount the MMU3 rather then on the top rear panel of the printer, but on the top RIGHT panel of the printer, with the filament being fed back down and into the normal filament feed on the side, rather then directly to the top of the extruder......?
Or would the run be too long for the buffer to handle?.....

RE: Core One MMU3 Prototypes
Try one of the above.
Big space save if you have more than 1 printer and very short filament path to the MMU unit.
Unload/load of new filaments faster, simply pull the old filament, push the new filament without routing.

RE: Core One MMU3 Prototypes
Okay. Took the bait. Ordered a Filamentalist hardware kit. I'm just a sucker for disappointment.
I'm thinking of doing the same thing. Please post a thread of your impressions!

Has anyone tucked a Filamentalist into a cereal storage type dry box?
RE: Core One MMU3 Prototypes
Option 2 as it is in the photo won't fit larger spools. There is no way I can put a 2 or 3kg spool of PLA on there. Option 1 at least gives me the option to fabricate my own rack above the core one.
RE: Core One MMU3 Prototypes
As option 2 doesn’t have a limit on how expensive, I can’t vote for that option. Sure, it would be nice to have a compact, tidy solution to printing with 5 colors. But you still have to find space for 5 spools and probably a buffer. I don’t really care how it’s done, as long as it is RELIABLE and AFFORDABLE.

RE: Core One MMU3 Prototypes
I use the buffer everytime I print which is almost daily. To date it has performed flawlessly...never had a single issue.
If you want easy loading, use this ....it's a game changer.

RE: Core One MMU3 Prototypes
I tried the one but didn't work well for me... I think it is just me as I find it cumbersome.
The main problem I have with the buffers is that they are exposing the filament to the environment and in my case I have had the filament break in the buffer because being exposed to the moisture in air

I don't like the buffer in the open either. I finaly stopped trying to save space and went with a big dry box. It has been working well for me.
RE: Core One MMU3 Prototypes
Yes that big dry box looks to do the Job... but a little to large for my small shelf...lol
RE: Core One MMU3 Prototypes
no one that uses the autowinders daily or at all would say they are noisy - they are passive and completely silent. I think you may not know what the auto rewinder is, or have a misunderstanding of how they work.

RE: Core One MMU3 Prototypes
on option could be a MMU light design (dual color/material) one spool on each side. support material on one side part material on other. or you are a person that only use 2-3 materials50-50 pla/petg for example or just dualcolor prints many times that enough
RE: Core One MMU3 Prototypes
Prusa offered MMU1 with either 2 filaments or 4 filaments.
I don't ever recollect anyone using the 2 filament version.
I try to make safe suggestions,You should understand the context and ensure you are happy that they are safe before attempting to apply my suggestions, what you do, is YOUR responsibility.Location Halifax UK
RE: Core One MMU3 Prototypes
Did not know about that one, before my time that, that one looks to be a 2+2 bowdensetup. core 1 could be ideal designe for dual setup and no extra tabelspace needed with one spool on each side. like the XL 1-2-5

I'm sure many forum members, myself included, will be very interested to hear about your initial thoughts and experience with it!

+1 for option #2

I was told by chat support today, that the MMU3 for CoreOne is expected to be released in May.
