Bed leveling, line shifts and first layer not sticking

I got the filament loading problrm solved, but there are still some issues that are giveing me fits . It all started with a Windows upgrade, the latest Firmware update and the latest Slicer update, all of which I loaded within a day or two of each other. That is when my prints started going to the crap basket and I started having all the problems. First, all my preloaded print and filament files were gone. Then the the feature where the printer would probe the bed around the print area prior to the start of a print went away and I was no longer getting the perfect first layers. Then when prints would start, on the 2nd or 3 layer I get a horizontzl shift of about an inch to the left. Then it just started laying the first layer down on the bed with no layer height adjustment at all. At this point I have a $1,000 door stop. This is happenong not only to my Core One but also to my Mk 4S. The Core One, the filament is going down about .5mm above the bed, and on the Mk4 it is trying to imbed the filament into the build plate.

I have backdated my firmware one version and gone back one vesion on the slicer, which has helpped a little, but I still cannot get a usable print. This is affecting both my Core One and my Mk4, so I am effectively dead in the water.

If I can get the old system of pre probing the bed for the first layer bed leveling back and the first layer height problem along with the random shifting solved, I think I could get by for now. I know as tech improves systems do also, but I feel the minute lost doing the bed probe prior to a print to get a good first layer every time was time well spent. When that was happening, I never lost a print due to a bad first layer not sticking, since I started loosing about 30 to 40 percent of my prints. Now that number has grown to 100 percent, I am dead in the water.

I am open to any suggestions. Thanks in advance to you all for your help and assistance, from an old newish kind of guy. I have been printing for 8 plus years now, and I know almost enough to get me in real trouble but not enough to get out of it all the time and this is one of those times.

RE: Bed leveling, line shifts and first layer not sticking

A bunch of stuff happening here, none seem obviously related to firmware or slicer upgrades. I would definitely get on the chat with Prusa Support, as they can guide you through troubleshooting none of us here can. Support is a major reason you paid the big bucks for a Prusa printer.

Then the the feature where the printer would probe the bed around the print area prior to the start of a print went away

That's what's actually stands out the most for me. This shouldn't happen at all when you upgrade. One thing I would do is a hard reset of the printers and revert to factory settings. I would also cleanly uninstall the slicer (nix all settings files) and reinstall it from scratch. Unless you mechanically messed up two printers somehow, this should put everything back into a pristine state.

I have backdated my firmware one version and gone back one vesion on the slicer

That's fine but not the same as a hard reset and a clean software un/re-install.
