If support is one of your big concerns, you're in for a big surprise from the Bambu folks...

Well, the Prusa Core one has officially been replaced. I think it's one of the best printing units available, and the ecosystem is far more flexible that others. It's the little things, such as the FW / instructions and, frankly, support when I needed it. We'll see how the P2S works for the small stuff.  Hopefully, the INDX will come out, not take a year to become mature, and be supported properly.

oh I’m  already am aware of how crappy bambu support really is; however I was shocked when it turned out that Prusa gave me just as much of a runaround. “ I’m getting off shift in a few minutes, so we need to wrap this up…” and then proceeded to give me a solution that had nothing to do with the problem whatsoever.

Well, i don't have much to say about that. The probably 6 times I've contacted Prusa, I've gotten what I consider excellent, prompt support. Yes, sometimes I had to wait a minute or few between responses, but I got helpful responses nonetheless. Nothing I'd complain about.

No offence, but are you "direct" when you chatted with them? Like one may be (understandably) when experiencing a frustrating problem? I only ask because I've found over my decades of dealing with various support teams that if the tone becomes adversarial, that can cause them to lose the motivation to be helpful. Don't get me wrong, I was born in the Bronx, NY and spent much of my professional career dealing with people with "NY attitude" which is, again, "direct?". It took me a while to tone it down when I moved to a softer part of my country...

Anyway, just exploring any reason why we have such opposite opinions of their support.

As I said, good luck with your P2S. It's a fine device.

One huge benefit of owning a Prusa Core One is that if there is a problem, I'm 99% certain I can diagnose it quickly and repair it on my own.

The reason being that you already had to fix so many problems that you know the printer pretty well by now? Or that enough other users had the same problem, so you can trust to get good suggestions from the forum? 😉

It does sound a bit like something a Lada driver might say... 😏

Well the answer is "yes"... Much easier to repair a steam engine than a rocket engine.

Reason why my uncle never sold his 1971 Volkswagen Kombi. Of course the thing was always falling apart.

Sounds like there may be another Bambu owner coming soon…

Personally I don't plan to switch to Bambu Labs. Like @hyiger, I think I have learned enough about the Core One now to keep it running successfully. If the INDX solution enables efficient multi-material printing (eventually), the Core One will provide all I need.

But when it comes to recommending a 3D printer to others, the balance has certainly shifted. Some arguments in favor of Prusa are still valid: European-made, good support, open ecosystem. But the "less frills, but more reliable" trade-off no longer seems true. While Bambu Labs are certainly not perfect, they do seem to take pre-launch beta testing much more seriously -- resulting in fewer design issues even though their designs are more complex.
