6.3.5-alpha Firmware for Prusa CORE One

Summary

  • Faster and more responsive communication with Prusa Connect

This is the alpha release for the upcoming firmware 6.3.5 for the Prusa CORE One, introducing a major backend upgrade for printers connected to Prusa Connect. While marked as an alpha, this release maintains the stability and security of existing features of the printer.

Faster and more responsive Prusa Connect experience

Communication between the printer and Prusa Connect is now handled using WebSockets, replacing the previous polling-based method.
While this change does not affect raw data transfer speed, it significantly improves overall responsiveness and interaction with the cloud service. Users can expect (via Prusa Connect):

  • Lower latency when starting prints
  • Faster execution of remote commands
  • Smoother and more fluid control during cloud-based workflows

This update also lays the groundwork for future enhancements to remote monitoring and control by the user, allowing for continued improvements to the connected experience in future releases.

Can we please get a better way to connect to Prusa LINK as well? Like, say, the option to set a user-define password that I can actually remember?

Yeah, changeable password is a (not answered) request from the beginning. It would be really nice to be able to set a user one, i agree.

Installed 6.3.5 and suddenly homing became a massive issue again, clanking dozens of times. (it was an issue in the initial release too). Flashed back to 6.3.4 and guess what, issue solved. I never tuned my belts and it was a factory build.

I know its a minor request but can we get PCTG as a standard filament type so I don't have to confirm the filament mismatch each print.

You can define new filaments as a "@user" profile. See my previous post about this: https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/postid/751247/
I have done this on my two MK4S printers, but this should work the same on a Core One.

I think the first homing after a firmware update bangs a lot. But once it’s done, it will home normally.

No, it went on forever for multiple prints. Went back to 6.4 (GA) and it now again hits four to six times and starts the print

I had defined a custom profile but I still get a warning I have to acknowledge each time that the filament doesn't match,  It seems to compare User 1 to PCTG even though I named it PCTG. I also often get an error in Prusa connect that the printer needs attention even though it goes ahead and prints the file I sent.

RE:

Did you you just append "PCTG" to the profile name or did you also delete the "USER1" text that was already there? I did the latter and never got a warning after adding the profile and I printed a few spools of PCTG with both printers. Did you also enter the three temperature values for the filament? I also activated the "is abrasive" toggle. Perhaps the value for this toggle must match in PrusaSlicer and you also must activate the toggle for "hardened nozzle" under hardware on the printer. Or you can toggle off the warnings for these items on the printer if the warnings do not disappear. But I have not done that.
Can't say anything about Prusa Connect, as I do not use it.

I do have the filament properly configured on the printer.  This does seem to be a Prusa connect issue because I don't get the error if I use the memory stick to load the file on the printer.

@jan-kratochvil

I haven't tried the RC version, but I have to ask you, from the source:I really don't like the fact that after printing, the printer's lighting turns off (I have it set), the printer cools down, but the motors don't turn off. So we have sleep mode, only the motors aren't turned off.

I would write a request to github, but my English is 100% mastered by the master Google translator...

Can I ask you or someone else to write this request to github? I think it's not just me who is bothered.

Thank you

Please excuse my writing style.

End of alarm and I apologize. The request is already addressed on github in a fairly long thread HERE

RE: 6.3.5-alpha Firmware for Prusa CORE One

Generally works fine, but I ran a long (10 hour+) print last night and it paused several times with a 'no USB' error. I reseated the USB and continued but it happened several times during the print.

File was over 54MB binary file and quite a complex articulated print. I was also monitoring via Prusa Connect in PrusaSlicer - PrusaLink needs updating to include parameters like chamber temperature and controls like connect.

I suspect there may be a buffering or timing issue with the USB especially on large complex files with a lot of small movements especially if reporting a lot of data to connect as well.

It could just be an issue with the ribbon cable between the main board and the LCD display. I had this happen to me on my MK4S that went away after replacing the cable.
