6.3.2 Firmware for Prusa CORE One

Summary

  • Adjusted RPM range check for the Print Fan test

This is the stable release of firmware 6.3.2 for the Prusa CORE One, addressing issues with certain print fans.

Adjusted RPM range check for the Print Fan test

The lower threshold of acceptable fan speed during the Print Fan test has been reduced from 5130 rpm to 4800 rpm. This change improves compatibility with fans operating near the lower end of their specified speed range.

RE:

An entire firmware update for an adjusted RPM range check?

Wonder if the actual fans have been changed to another model/manufacturer, hence why the RPM could differ, meaning the new firmware was urgently required......either way, update is welcome!

Still no phase stepping calibration? This is a massive disappointment, sorry. Support keeps promising that "the next firmware release will bring reduced VFAs", and the firmware team keeps not delivering on this, first with 6.3.1, now 6.3.2. The clock is ticking on my return window for the Core One kit.

I think it's great. Would love to see more small bugfix releases in the future rather than waiting with them for weeks or months for big FW updates.

I notice that there is now a "6.2.5" tag for the firmware on Github. Looks like the firmware team is working on yet another bugfix release (improving temperature stability for the XL hotends).

So, how about 6.3.3 for the Core One? Is the team still struggling with the phase stepping calibration? Is there a target date?

Wow guys, Does support answer you?

I can't do chat 24/7 and use email, and the support it's nearly inexistent, to many promises and the printer +4 months in the market and still no official MMU, no phase stepping, bent X axis support, XZ not aligned with the bed, VFA, resonances on Y on all my core ones, etc...

When I saw the centauri carbon I return one of the assembled core ones and bought 4 for the price of one Assembled core one.

Everything I’ve seen on the repo indicates that the next Core One release will be 6.4, which leads me to believe it’ll be awhile. One of the devs only said that he doesn’t know when the release might be ready. Frustrating to not have any sort of time frame for my printer to work reliably after months of tinkering ☹️

Thanks for looking into the repo. Yes, it's frustrating -- and I am getting a bit nervous about the 60-day return window for my kit, which will close at the end of May. I like many things about the Core One, but if its VFA performance is not improved it does not really meet my needs.

(On the other hand, I am not sure what I would buy instead. A Voron kit like the Sovol SV08 or better? Might have the potential for better prints eventually, but sounds like a recipe for months of tinkering and frustration too...)

I have built a Voron Trident. After tinkering and upgrading many parts it prints the best of all printers i have (only 3). Prints much better than the Core one.
Especially after the IDGA gear upgrade.

I guess you could say that about anything.  Without knowing what you tinkered with and upgraded that’s not particularly helpful to us!  🙂

I think that we have to keep in mind that phase stepping calibration may also not improve VFA.

That's a hard truth we have to consider, and more over when we see Prusa XL still have VFA issue with phase stepping calibration.

Agreed. Prusa support has stated to a few forum members that an "upcoming" firmware release will reduce VFAs, but the status quo of the XL suggests that Prusa still don't have a reliable countermeasure. Even more so, I would like to see phase stepping calibration implemented on the Core One sooner rather than later, so we can give it a try.

I really hope it will improve (at least) VFA and fix resonance/buzzing noises at specific speed (that what bother me the most)!

I want to order a kit, I’m on the fence!

Solving this VFA issue is not easy. The X1C and P1S also have exactly this issue. Some have it more than others, mine has it to the same degree as my Core One.

My X1C has barely visible VFA at 50mm/s (outerwall speed), my CORE One had a lot at the same speed

What slicer software do you use for each printer?

Prusa Slicer for Prusa, Bambu Studio / Orca slicer (same result) for my X1C.

Amount of VFAs varies at different speeds. And it will be different for printers with different construction. Run some tests and choose printing speeds where VFAs are not apparent on your printer. They are usually gone at higher printing speeds.

RE: 6.3.2 Firmware for Prusa CORE One

@jan-kratochvil, it has been six weeks since the 6.3.1 firmware release, and a month since the stop-gap version 6.3.2. When can we expect a version that finally enables phase stepping calibration for the Core One?

Thank you for an update. I only have two weeks left on the return window for my kit.
