Steel sheet profiles

I just completed a Core One build and tried to change the steel sheet profile.

But there isn't an option in the Settings menu.

Does the Core One not need to select different profiles for the different sheets ?

RE: Steel sheet profiles

This is indeed the case with Bambu Lab printers. Prusa does not check this before printing. You cannot set the type of printing plate you have in advance in the slicer either.

I can't think what that would change in a profile as Prusa uses load-cell Z calibration before every print, so it literally touches the sheet and adjusts for any differences in thickness. I suspect all the Bambu setting does is warn you if you try printing with a material that's not "compatible" with your selected bed, though I would've thought that could happen directly in the printer using the barcodes and cameras. In fact the CORE One L build sheets have barcodes now and it was announced that the camera would be able to detect them in future, so I assume there will be a similar warning system on the L at least.

Some users have reported that they need to set a negative Z offset for the textured print sheet. Because the load cell detects the "peaks" of the textured surface, and does not know that you want to squeeze some filament into the "valleys".

RE:

My use cases for having sheet profiles:

I use textured, Cryogrip and Garolite G10 they all have different temperature profiles and adhesion properties with the same materials. Would also like to store PID's with these sheets. For example, if I accidentally print TPU on the Cryogrip without a separation layer it's almost impossible to remove so I usually used textured for that. Conversely ASA doesn't stick well to the Cryogrip so I use the G10 for that. Polypropylene only sticks to itself so need a special sheet. Would like to be warned if I have the "wrong sheet" mounted.

RE: Steel sheet profiles

I raised an enhancement request for this a week ago. Please feel free to pile on: Ability to select a print bed type in firmware and check it against uploaded g-code
