Schmoo!

I notice there's a lot of "schmoo" aka tiny dots of filament deposited on the print sheet while warming up and bed levelling. Surely there is a way to do this more cleanly? It's not a major issue on small prints but its painful to have to pick off all these tiny wisps of filament.

This is (mostly) yet another symptom of damp filament - though some filaments (eg TPU) are more susceptible than others.  If you do get a long loading dribble it can help to pull it off while preheating.

RE: Schmoo!

I've been printing with mostly older but pretty dry filament and the bed test does sometime leave small Hershey kisses where the nozzle touches, but these get absorbed during printing and have never affected prints. At basic startup loading filament and after printing completes, the nozzle has a 30 to 40 mm drool that should be plucked off manually. I generally do this as I remove the last print... but finding the enclosure - for whatever reason - allows me to miss cleaning off the purge line. Perhaps habit and the change in purge position - Mk3 it's on the left - but I've done a couple of prints now where the purge line was doubled up 🤔 .

RE: Schmoo!

I definitely get this with TPU but then I just ignore it. As @Tim pointed out, what I find more annoying is filament oozing. Especially between color changes.
