Problem with brand new Prusa Satin plate
Just received a brand new Prusa Satin powder-coated plate. I always clean it cold between prints with 99% isopropyl. I've noticed certain stains showing up on the surface and not sure where they are coming from. Is it a defective plate or did my nozzle do this? There is also an area where it looks like the powder coat had "melted" or "dissolved" and spread over part of the sheet. I spoke to technical support and they are referring me to quality control. I haven't noticed this with my other satin sheet which I've had for a year. I'm wondering if this sheet is defective or did I cause this somehow? As shown in the first photo I was have first layer adhesion problems until I flipped over the sheet.
You might try a detergent and hot water clean to see if it can be used OK - but this does look like a QC issue.
Cheerio,
RE: Problem with brand new Prusa Satin plate
My Satin plate had a chunk (3mm x 2mm) of the coating come off after about two weeks of use, and underneath was rust. I've only cleaned it with IPA, it has not been near water or anything that would cause rust.
I'd definitely say that their QC is pretty poor.
RE: Problem with brand new Prusa Satin plate
I have been printing on a satin plate for months and clean it almost between every print with 99% IPA and have had no issues. At this point I have only used one side.
RE: Problem with brand new Prusa Satin plate
I can only get a decent print on one side of the sheet. For sure the other side is defective. Trying to get a replacement but, so far, it's been difficult.
