Issue with Z-Axis calibration
Hello,
i finished the assembly. Now i'm doing the calibration.
I was able to move the bed on the Z-Axis by hand (motors disabled), but also using the knob up and down.
When i do the calibration however, i see that the front right motor seems not turning.
All motors are correctly attached (cables verified!)
Any idea what could be wrong here?
Thanks in advance
For all new build and commissioning problems the best place for help is Prusa Support via chat (relatively instant, email is slow) - they will want your machine's serial number.
BUT - this looks like a connection problem, pull and re-seat the connector, if the problem persists try a blast of switch-cleaner.
Cheerio.
RE: Issue with Z-Axis calibration
Besides double-checking the motor connections, I also recommend the following:
With the heatbed in the lowermost position, loosen the 3*2 screws which hold the three black trapezoidal nuts. This lets the nuts settle into a position that matches the position defined by the two smooth vertical rods. Then tighten the screws again. Do not overtighten; the black nuts are plastic and should not be deformed.
Prusa's assembly instructions are backwards in this step. They have you attach and lock down the trapezoidal nuts first, and later jam in the two vertical rods. This can result in mechanical tensions which can cause step loss, especially at low bed positions.
RE: Issue with Z-Axis calibration
Hi,
thanks for your help.
Meanwhile i solved the problem by releasing the 6 screws holding the Trapezoidal nut, moving everything up and down, and tightly re-fixing everything.
The threaded rod, should i take the white lubricate tube from the box, or something different?
Thanks in advance.

Yes. Don't go crazy, just a bit of lube is all you need.
