No new cable here... but I suspect they're twisting (electrical filtration) the heater wires.

https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware-Buddy/issues/4596

(See the couple of pictures at the end.)   Possibly with some wiring re-routing.

Let us k now what you find 🙂

I contacted Prusa when we received the printer at work because of this issue. They never accepted that it was probably the cable so they never send me anything. I don't know if you found the thread about the custom g-code that turns off the heater while calibrating. This fixed the issue for me.

What are your load cell values before and during homing with the custom g-code?  Write it down.  Then factory reset the printer and test again paying attention to the load cell values.  If they are fluctuating during the homing process but are steady with the custom g-code, you need to reach out to Prusa support again.

RE: HOMING ISSUES

So I thought the G28 I was the command to disable heating while homing.  That wasn't the case.  Looks like adding M104 S0 before G28 does the trick.

What I'm seeing are some variations between -100 to +100 if the heater is on while homing. With the heater off it was more like -10 to +10.  Not sure if that is a more scientific method to diagnose.  But I can confirm that M104 S0 solves my issue as well. New cable is being shipped and will be here in a few days.

RE: HOMING ISSUES

No discernible difference between the cables.  But I am able to home/print without disabling the heater.

RE: HOMING ISSUES

The homing  calibration is a software issue; even with the most recent drivers ?

Did you check that the gantry is still square after tensioning the belts? When you tensioned the belts what did you use to measure the belt frequency. Did you use the new 6.4.0 firmware wizard? Run the X and Y calibration test again. Do they still pass?

What about the belt tension? What are the belt frequencies? Is the gantry still square with the frame? Is there a QR code or error code it is reporting?

RE: HOMING ISSUES

The Y-axis has now failed, the gantry is not square with the frame. My belt tensions were good, but the HOMING calibration was not passing.

If the gantry is not perfectly aligned, then the HOMING will always fail; if this is the case I have to adjust the belt again, this is the third time taking apart the heatsink.

No, you probably don't need to take apart the Nextruder. Loosen the belts and check that the gantry is still square. If not, then bend it by hand until it is. Then when you tighten the belt screws you must tighten both left and right by the exact same amount always. Never tighten the 2 screws by different amounts. RE: HOMING ISSUES

hint it's easier while taking the idler pulley off the screws. Putting them back onto their threads is trivial, whereas hooking belts into the extruder carriage under tension is an exercise in frustration.

Hooking the belts into the extruder carriage is extremely frustrating; I've done this atleast twelve or more times in the past two weeks. I honestly don't believe that I'll ever get it to calibrate. I think I'll just have this as a hobbie in getting the belt into the extruder carriage for months.

So then either you had too few teeth pulled through the harness (there should be 4 or 5) or you drastically over-tensioned the belts and pulled one out. Once you get the belt reseated, when you tension them you must do it carefully and methodically. Do not adjust the screwed independently and check that the belt tension gets in range then use the firmware wizard to get the final tension. Do not over tighten the belts. Do not adjust the screws unevenly to square the gantry. That has to be done manually by bending the gantry by hand only when the belts are loose.

RE: HOMING ISSUES

HOMING is directly related to the gantry alignment ?

Yes, it is. Also, belt tension, i.e. they are too loose or too tight.

RE: HOMING ISSUES

I got the calibration from beginning to end working successfully; then I tried to print; HOMING error. Now the belt is extremely loose on the X and even the Y. It looks like once again, I have to remove the nextruder.

RE: HOMING ISSUES

I'm always dissembling my nextruder to fix the belt; then adjusting the tension and I fight this over and over again. Although I never get to actually printing anything.

RE: HOMING ISSUES

Are you sure you are attaching the belt correctly? I've never had it come loose at the extruder. I would double check the instructions.

When you say "extremely loose" is it actually pulling out of the Nextruder belt harness? Also, how are you tensioning the belts? Have you clicked on the link and read the guide I sent you earlier?

@butters, I want to help you but you have to help me. Please take detailed photos of your belts and how they are routed along the frame. Also, please describe how you are tensioning the belts.

Don't know what country you are in but in the US we have a service called Task Rabbit where you can hire someone to do various tasks like assemble furniture or do anything really. Maybe you should hire someone locally who can help you.
