You do have a clean nozzle before you start?, as homing will need the build plate to touch the nozzle tip to get a good zero level, filament blobs may affect this.

It just seems that is an extraordinary large gap for homing to have worked.

Yes it should work. During the first layer press and hold the control knob.

That being said something does seem to be off as the initial bed probing shouldn't be that far off.

Have you greased your lead screws. Some have had issues with them binding up.

Also check to make sure the nozzle is not loose.

live z: is this also possible with the core one? are you sure? i tried it, it didn't work.

prolife: no I have a special filament profile for dental models and greentec pro filament.

You can lower the Z anytime during the first layer by pressing and holding the control knob. That will open up the live Z.

Are you using a default filament profile?

on these photos you can see, that the distance between nozzle and bed is too big. with the older prusa models I could adjust it calibrating the first layer (z).

Try to clean it with warm water and dish soap using a soft brush, especially when it´s new.

After each print I clean it with alcohol and wipe it with a soft textile.

You have to be careful with what you wipe it. There are a lot of products like handkerchiefs which contains some kind of fat (for skin care).
