Error #23615: Unable to verify the extruder type, check the wiring and connectors

I have mostly assembled my Core One Kit. This is my first 3D printer and that certainly took a lot longer than I was expecting! I've temporarily skipped installing the door and the top panels while I verify that I've done the other steps correctly.

When I boot the Core One, the screen displays:

Error! #23615

Unable to verify the extruder type, check the wiring and connectors.

I can prevent this error by unplugging the loadcell cable from the nextruder. Are there any suggestions on my next debugging steps? I've already unplugged and re-plugged every device on the nextruder and anything connected to the nextruder on the buddy board. That's how I isolated the problem to the loadcell cable specifically.
