Bent door sensor lever

While installing the hotend cable clip, I caught the door sensor lever with my hand on the way out… it seemed to have gotten pretty bent out of shape. I mostly got it back, but it doesn’t seem quite right.

Is this salvageable? Or should I pause my build to get a new one and install it before more assembly makes replacing too tricky?

RE:

Why not just bend it back? As you have experienced, the thin metal strip bends pretty easily. While bending the upper end, you can support the lower end (near the hinge) with small screwdriver blade which you insert below the switch plunger. That should let you bend the upper part back against the switch body.

If you are like most of us, you will disable the door sensor anyway during operation -- to let you open the door to quickly remove some debris etc. while printing. So even if you can't get it back into shape, that should not be an issue.

Interesting you say that.. it’s exactly what I did ☺️ I was more concerned that I may have inadvertently damaged a sensitive internal component. But, good to know I’m on the right track, thank you!

RE: Bent door sensor lever

those switches don't really have much inside, the resistor is very probably there to be able to tell if the sensor is connected (this is the way the firmware knows you run a CORE One). If you bent the blade back once or twice it should not be a problem at all (I did build a few projects years ago with similar switches, they are rather robust!)
