Mk 4 and Enclosure

I received an email from support saying the PSU bracket for the Mk4 needs to be printed.  I can find files for the black and silver Mk3 PSUs, but not one for the Mk4 PSU.  Reading some different threads, there is a difference in the Mk3 and Mk4 PSU cable, so it appears the PSU may be different.

Can someone who has installed a Mk4 in the original enclosure speak to this?  Specifically, is the PSU different from both of the Mk3 PSUs, and do you have the file to print the required Mk4 PSU bracket?

I ordered this with the filter and LED options, and the webpage indicates the enclosure uses a different PSU when it has these options.  It appears the enclosure has a PSU itself; is this correct, or does it share the PSU with the Mk4?

My enclosure has shipped but the printer kit won’t ship until sometime in July.  I’m hoping to have the enclosure ready for the printer rather than waiting for the printer to arrive and then start assembling both.

RE: Mk 4 and Enclosure

Hello Gary. I am using the Prusa enclosure with the MK4 and the LED option. The MK4 PSU is completely compatible with the enclosure. Your filter and LED options come with a seperate PSU. So there will be no problems for you.

The one thing that is NOT compatible with the MK4 at the moment is the Quick Release add-on. That will require adjusted wiring.

RE:

I think you might be confusing the PSU that is used to power the LED and the HEPA Filter with the printer PSU.  You actually need both.  It is correct that the optional mounting bracket for the LED/HEPA filter power brick needs to be printed.  You can find the parts here:  https://www.printables.com/model/284120-basic-board-psu-add-on-printable-parts/files

That’s exactly it; I didn’t understand it was a second power supply, I thought it was a unique MK4 bracket.

Do I print both of the files in the above link? I’m assuming so, and It won’t be a problem, it’s just not clear.

When I received the add-on, the bracket was included in the kit with the additional PSU. Otherwise select one of the two according to the PSU that is in your kit.

RE: Mk 4 and Enclosure

Interesting that your unit had a bracket.  Mine did not and the assembly instructions state in Step 3 for both the Filter and the LED strip that the bracket needs to be printed. https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/10-white-led-strip-add-on_363376

It does state that the PSU bracket "is not necessariy required" and I'm guessing that's why it wasn't shipped to me.

@Gary I'm expecting that you'll have a Black PSU with your Mk4 and so you'd need this file:  https://files.printables.com/media/prints/284120/stls/2715768_f6d380d7-8250-4b2a-b514-3534a560d88d/basic-boardpsu-delta-set.3mf

The other file is required for older Silver PSUs that shipped with some Mk3 printers.  There are two parts in that file, you only need to print the larger one, the other is the cover for the basic board and it should be in the kit when you receive it.

@Gary, Apologies my statement above regarding which file to use is incorrect (trying to multitask and failing!) and I don't seem to be able to edit my post anymore.  There seem to be two different types of PSU supplied with the Filter and/or LCD kit and they .  You'll need to have a look at what you receive and decide based on that which one to print.  Sorry for the confusion.

@gsiemon my bad. I was wrong 😆 It was not included and I printed it before I started assembly. For me it was External-PSU-bracket-DELTA.

Sorry for the misinformation.

This may sound silly, but I’ve been thinking the PSU delta bracket was a revision or model..  My enclosure arrived today and I see that Delta is the PSU manufacturer….. it makes sense now!

Thanks for the information.

What about the situation where I already have an enclosure that is housing my MK3S+. I am already using a delta bracket that supports the MK3S+ where the PSU was. I will be receiving my fully assembled MK4 this week that I will be installing into the enclosure (and removing the MK3s+)

Will this delta bracket and the enclosure parts that are holding my current MK3s+ PSU all work for my MK4?

The MK4 power supply mount has not changed.  The delta bracket to support the printer when moving the PSU outside will work on the MK4.

If you have the black MK3s+ PSU, the mounting parts for the PSU are the same.  If you have a quick disconnect cable for the PSU, it has changed for the MK4.
