This is there because is near the spool bar, and the path from the a spool installed inside the box is relative short.

A different thing is to bring there the filament from a dry box located on the top if the Enclose; it seems me a difficult path, and I have no idea on what should be the entrance point of the filament into the box, and how to reach the L shape holder or even the Nextruder. I think that any attempt would add considerable friction to the filament.

- What is your experience on this ?

Regards

Hi guys,

I searched the internet for an >>easy<< way to control a filters fan (the Prusa/Alveo 24V fan) with home assistant or octoprint.
This is what I already studied:
https://community.home-assistant.io/t/smartifying-the-original-prusa-mk4-3d-printer-enclosure/684821

What I simply want is to start the filters fan when the print is starting and to shut it off with delay when the print is done.

Sure it would be awesome to regulate the fans speed or to implement an air quality sensor. There are several topics across the internet when it comes to smartifying the enclosure, but that requires some electrical skills that I don't have.

Are there any solutions for my plans which offer mostly plug and play (with rapsberry pi) or do I really have to dig deep and learn how to do it?

Best regards

Hi all!

I've got the Prusa Original Enclosure with the Advanced Filtration System. It works well, but it's rather noisy. To avoid having to live with a loud brrrr whenever my Prusa is printing, I only turn on the filter fan towards the end of the print. That way, I clean the air before I open the doors (I've also air-tightened most holes and gaps in my Enclosure, so it's almost air tight).

However, I never know for how long I should run the filter fan before most of the fumes, smells and VOCs have been filtered out. Does anyone know? How long would it take for that fan to circulate all that air through the filter like 2 times?

Kind regards

For example, I do not get zapped by the metal desk that the printer is sitting when I touch it. Nor anything else.

I wonder what could be causing this, and whether it is a matter of any concern. I am wondering if I should ground the enclosure. I would probably not attach it to the PSU ground -- I would find a nearby outlet and attach a grounding cable to the screw.

I actually don't have a sense of whether this would work because at least according to my multimeter the metal pieces of the enclosure are have high resistance!? Anyway, I'd appreciate any feedback about this.

One of the main reasons I’m interested in it is to reduce noise (and for the filtration system), but I haven’t seen any videos showing the Prusa Mini printing inside the enclosure with the filtration system running.

If anyone here owns the enclosure, could you kindly share your experience or even a video of it in action? I’d really appreciate any insight, especially regarding noise levels!

Thanks in advance for your help!

I’ve been waiting for Prusa to release a quick disconnect for the xLCD screen of the MK4 when mounted externally to the Prusa enclosure. When they released the quick disconnect for the power supply earlier this year, I thought to myself it’s only natural for them to release a quick disconnect for the xLCD screen too. It’s like peanut butter and jelly, they go hand in hand. However, my peanut butter has no prusa jelly.

I'm aware of 3rd party of a third party solution posted on printables. However, it requires assembly in ways that are outside my comfort zone.

i hope this hasn’t fallen out of focus for Prusa and their cohabitation of their products. I would think their focus would be to help promote and utilize their products together. When mounting the xLCD screen externally, to get electronics away from excessive heat, this becomes a chore to accomplish if you need to take the printer out of the enclosure.

OK, finally had time to unpack the Original Prusa MINI Enclosure (without any addons) and assembled it partially.Unfortunately I cannot upload images to forum, maybe add some later on in the following posts.Below are some notes, notice that I want to use it a bit differently than the originally intended - that is I want to use left side as doors and put a concrete slab in it.

- Material: steel, doors use 2 magnets 20x6x2 mm, powder coated and it gives that similiar look to the printed parts.

- Dimensions: 430 mm (w) × 470 mm (h) × 500 mm (d) with legs, but notice that power supply is on the outside so this takes additional space

- You can put Prusa Mini printer rotated 90 degrees and it will fit in but you may have to use angled power connector to the heat bed (otherwise it will hit the panels). Yet you may need to put panels on the outside in such configuration:

- instead of three damping pegs you can put a damping cloth + paver or concrete slab on the bottom and place a printer on it and you should still have about 2 cm of free space between Z motor and the ceiling. Notice that the whole setup gets really heavy and I am not sure if the handles in side panels would be good enough to transport it. I guess it would be better to add additional handles for transport.

- Holes for USB in the front has size of 13x25 mm, again mounted in such way that I just can image people breaking their pendrives by accident ;)

- Holes for Humidity/Temperature sensor in the front/back size are 60mm apart, but the holes on the sides are ~62 mm apart, so you cannot mount humidity sensor on the side (a bit surprising I'd say) unless you redesign 3d printed mounting bracket:

- Side panel - mounting hinges will need some redesign, also cutting the panel is inevitable, more on that in next posts

Other notes:

- the edges are not that sharp as I would expect - I guess they were slightly smoothed, so they are safe to use
- the overall sturdiness of the enclosure is good, you can easily stack 3 on each other

- enclosure is not air tight - (you can see it on the photos above) there is a lot of holes in the enclosure due to the fact that you can attach cables with zip ties, also on the corners between the metal parts there are gaps, I guess less than 0.5mm - you may need to cover them with duct tape or something like that or use fan + pipe to attach on the back to generate negative pressure (and it wold also require a filtering loop or route outside etc). Also you want to tape side panels and holes on the bottom.- air filter is inside so it just sucks in air and filters it over HEPA filter, so the idea is similar to NeverMore but with HEPA instead of active carbon pellets.
