Odd Behavior

Hey Everyone,

I have a 5T XL and recently changed out my 0.6 nozzles to 0.4 nozzles. With that change, I updated the firmware to the new 5.1.2 and also started using PrusaSlicer 2.7.1 with the 0.4 input shaper preset. I've noticed some odd behavior now with the printer. When the printer does the first layer it doesn't actually use the temperature I set for the first layer (220C), but instead seems to go to my other layer temperature of 210C. When doing a multicolor print the printer seems to hang on waiting for extruder 1 to heat up meanwhile extruder 2 is immediately grabbed and there is no down time. This happens at every color change.

I also noticed that there is a floating extrusion above the purge tower now in PS that I hadn't experienced previously. I know this isn't exactly a bug as it seems to be reported on as being a wipe tower ramming line ( https://help.prusa3d.com/article/wipe-tower_125010). I find it odd this wasn't occurring previously.

When I had the 0.6 nozzles on the printer I didn't experience any of these issues. I tried going down to PS 2.7.0 to see if it might be a gcode change within the slicer versions itself and didn't see any changes. I tried using a non IS preset with no luck. I downgraded firmware to 5.1.0 and still experience the same behavior. I unistalled and reinstalled PS to remove any odd configurations.

I've attached the gcode for the print.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be very much appreciated!

Thanks!

RE: Odd Behavior

While I unfortunately don't know the solution to the weird temperature swings and ensuing toolchange waiting, I can confirm that you are not alone with the problem.

I see it too using PS 2.7.1 with 5T XLIS profiles. (But with 0.6mm nozzles; I don't think the nozzle diameter matters here.)

BTW, your attachment was somehow lost. It seems quite common on this forum actually... (I believed you had to zip everything?)

RE: Odd Behavior

picture files are generally OK (as long as there are no formatting comments immediately before or after the image

Gcode fies, STL's .3mf files,  etc.  need to be Zipped

I don't have an XL multi extruder printer,

could the strange temperatures be due to the Idle Temperature Setting,?

Or the Ooze prevention setting?

RE: Odd Behavior

I am going to try and turn off the ooze prevention and idle temperature to see if that fixes the issue. I'm also wondering if I should do a full factory reset and start with a clean install of firmware of 5.1.2.

Thanks for the ideas!
