Affixing the XL to external objects to improve rigidity
First post here, I have the opportunity to use struts, or bars (3d printed) to mount to the front top corners of the XL to solid fixtures to reduce vibrations. I've noticed that while printing these corners deflect the most and my guess is that with the whole printer fixed in place it reduces the amount of correction the input shaping needs to do. I would of course, recalibrate after it's in place. My hopes are that it would lead to better print quality at higher speeds. The two downsides that come to mind are having to relocate one spool holder to make room. The second, and more hypothetical downside is accelerated wear on the stepper motors. The frame of the printer absorbs the energy of starts and stops (hence why it flexes) and if there is less give in the system then the motors will see these abrupt changes, and wear faster. I'm curious if anyone has secured their printer to a wall, or other external objects and their results. Also if anyone comes up with more downsides, I'm all ears.
