Prusa XL - multicolor causes odd extension outside the model
I've used the multicolor option (paint-on) for a vase model. Problem: the generated gcode causes the nozzle to extrude filament outside the model geometry. Why is it or how can it be avoided.

That looks like a modern art painting! I've never seen this. Can you upload the 3mf project file so we can see your settings? It needs to be zip compressed for the forum software to accept it. Use the Attach file option below the text edit box.

(btw, I tried different multicolor options, paint-on with a brush or the height area tool for another color. Same odd result in the sliced model and during the print. The nozzles prints in air in the middle of the vase...)

No idea why Prusaslicer does this thing, but I found paint-on coloring to be a real crapshoot. For your model you can get what you want by using a height range modifier. See attached 3mf file.
