XL first layer printing too low and getting worse. Now I can't print a first layer!
Hi All,
My Prusa-XL seems to have developed a problem and it seems to be progressively getting worse as I'm trying to figure out what's going on.
I started noticing my first layer started to print too low and the head was starting to plough through the extruded filament. It seemed to be consistently bad across ALL the tool heads, even ones I rarely use (so they're fairly pristine). After noticing all the tool heads had the same problem I tried cleaning the sheet thoughly, changing the sheet, cleaning the heat bed to make sure there's no debris. Same issue happens.
I've tried testing the Z-axis (no problems), re-calibrating the Z-axis (calibration passes), the load sensors of all the tools pass. I noticed that after a few tests and calibration cycles the first layer was printing lower and lower, now it's starting to scrape the bed!
I've attached two images. One image is of the first layer at the start of the night, obvious signs that the first layer was too low. The 2nd image of the build plate shows the head starting to scrape the plate.
What's going on?

Have you run the Tool Offset Calibration?
Step 21 of: https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/7-first-run_512915#513527
- although start at step 20.
Cheerio,

Problem fixed. I inspected the tool heads, lubed up the rails, and did FULL recalibration.
The XL is back to printing perfect first layers.
Thanks Diem for suggesting to do the tool offset cal. That was probably it.
