XL fails to home (sometimes) and makes clicking noise
It won't let me insert the video, so here's a link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qN5FArk3VooqaWaBT4RWfEwu0SqSObvu/view?usp=sharing
I'm getting this homing issue where the XL senses a crash, but isn't crashing into anything. Then, it struggles to home the printer as well.
What I've tried:
I had a chat with support, but I'm struggling with staying connected on chat - it times out way too fast. I'd love other suggestions.
They recommended adjusting the pulleys in the back, so I made sure those were the correct height. I think it reduced the clicking noise somewhat, but not completely.
I've tried cleaning the rails and adjusting the belts using both the homing tower print, as well as the tuning using my phone. That did not change the homing issue at all. I do not see any debris or scratches on the rail.
Please help!
RE: XL fails to home (sometimes) and makes clicking noise
Hi,
Never Had this behaviour. Why dont it Stop when detecting a collision?
What Firmware do you use? How tight are the belts (Frequency)? Did you do a proper alignment after settings belt tension? Did you do a Docking calibration Afterwards? Did you Check the little screw at the backside thats Holding the Docking port? It Sometimes loosen itsself.
If its not a mechanical issue maybe reset your printer to factory settings and do a Firmware Update and recalibrate everything again.
How Long have you been Printing before this issue appeared?

This crackling Sound are from the printer or Background noise?
Sounds Like Something ist lose or Scratching somewhere

It's using 6.2 firmware. This video was taken right after tuning the bets - you can see it's printing the homing tower. I've checked the docks as well a few times and run through all the calibrations.
This printer has about 175 days of print time.
I finally got through to chat, and they recommended doing a special kind of maintenance on the linear rails that I wasn't aware of: https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/how-to-lubricate-linear-bearing-rails-xl_384273?utm_medium=chat&utm_campaign=link-shared-in-chat&utm_source=livechat.com&utm_content=www.prusa3d.com
So I'm hoping that does the trick. It feels strange that that would be the problem, but who knows.
