USB Port Overcurrent

Hello,

I am having issue with Prusa XL with 5 Toolheads. When the printer is turned on, it resets during the loading and throws and error "USB Port Overcurrent #17306". This has been happening for quite some time now and I am waiting on update from Prusa Support.

This issue first occured shortly after a ruined print covered one of the toolheads in blob of filament. While cleaning the mess, the thermistor of the toolhead got damaged and it was replaced. But I am not sure if this is relevant to the issue.

What I have tried so far:

  • Turn printer on with disconnected toolhead where thermistor was replaced.
  • Turn printer on with all toolheads disconnected
  • Swapping display from Core One L and MK4s - Still same error when powered on
  • Testing display from XL on Core One L and MK4s - Display works as expected.
  • Using different USB drives, powering on with and without USB drive connected.
  • Bought and replaced LCD cable and Sandwich board (based on suggestion from 24/7 live chat support).

None of these fixes worked and the issue still persists. I am currently waiting on reply from the Prusa Support and will be trying another live chat support session soon. I have not found any damaged cable or components.

I will be glad for any suggestions on how to resolve this issue.

Thanks!

Happy Printing

Hi,

Now that you ask, I belive a coleague was measuring it and there was no voltage, but I would have to try it again to be sure.

Fortunately I was able, after couple tries, to force firmware update through an actual USB drive and it seems that fixed the issue. I got couple seemingly random "Modular bed error" messages during calibariton but was able to print a benchy at the end and unload filament from all toolheads. So this issue seems to be FIXED now.

I will be doing osme more troubleshooting about the Modular bed error on Monday when back at work.

Do you have any means of measuring the working voltage and current being drawn from the USB port?

Cheerio,
