Spool Join working for anyone?

Hi,

I wanted to use the spool join feature on our 5 head XL. I wanted to join from head 3 to head 2. Turns out that there is a z offset when head 2 starts, it print mid-air. All calibrations are fine. Every head prints fine individually.

What seems strange to me: When I use the join spool feature, only the starting head is being z homed. In contrast when I make a multi head print, every used head is z homed individually.

So I am wondering if this might be a bug in the spool join feature. Is it working for anyone the way it is without z offset problems?

It's worked for me every time, so far, without any problems.

Thank you for your input. And the tools are not z homed before, only one, right? Then it has to be a hardware issue on our printer.

Jay on which firmware are you. I am having the problems with 6.0.1. I just made another test, a multihead print with switch from 3 to 2, this works fine. I was mistaken about z homing every head. It only flushes every head but z homes the starting head. So if this works for a multi head print, why not for spool join?

I will update to 6.0.3 now and make a complete reset.

Glad you got it to work. I was using 6.0.2, now 6.0.3.

Yes, the z homing is only done with the tool that is printing most of the first layer. Apparently the Tool Offset Calibration is precise enough that it's not necessary to home all the tools. I plan to re-run the Tool Offset Calibration whenever I make any nozzle changes, in case there are any subtle changes in nozzle position.
