Second extruder on first layer crashing into bed
I’m printing petg and pla (as support) with the petg printing first and forming the wipe tower main material. The petg goes down great but then the pla extruder ends up at the surface of the bed. I’ve recalibrated the extruder offsets and it still happened. I’m thinking it’s the gcode? Or the printer just decided to forget the offset settings?
RE:
When it's cold and no filament loaded, push/pull on the nozzle (up/down) to check if it's properly seated. If the grub screw is not tight enough or not enganging the groove, the filament pressure will push it down when printing. Source: I f'd up a nozzle change and killed my silk sheet.
If you have to reseat it, don't forget to repeat offset calibration.
RE: Second extruder on first layer crashing into bed
Thanks for the tip. I checked and made the grub screws were tight enough; was afraid to overtighten them at first cause they are landing right on the thinnest section of the tube, but one nozzle could be moved before tightening. Redid the nozzle offset calibration and it seems to be working now.

They really should define a torque for these screws. But glad to hear you solved it 😉
