Prusa inconsistant results from tool to tool

Hi fellow Prusa fans!

I've been having issues with my 5T XL . Multi-tool print quality. Mostly, I'm seeing problems with bed adhesion . I believe the issue is related to inconsistant configuration of the tool heads (see picture).

As part of my troubleshooting, I did the following:

- I updated to the newest firmware.

- I re-set the printer to factory and wiped all the configurations

- I then re-ran all the setup configuration steps as if it was a new printer

- I bought a brand-new steel sheet

- I dried all my fillament

- I cleaned all my extruder heads.

-I made sure all the nozzles were pushed up into the extruder fully and tightened properly (not too tight, but secure)

- I ran a belt test and adjusted appropriately

I created a test square and printed it , switching to a new tool, and repeating for all tools.

If you look at the picture, you can see that I got a perfect first layer print for tool-heads 2,3,4 and 5.  Tool one, however, is printing like the Z-axis is off.

I ran this test right after I went through all the configuration steps and I used the same model for all toolheads (just re-printed with remapped tools).  I don't understand how this can happen, particularly on Tool 1.

Do any of you have any suggestions on how to resolve this?  Much appreciated.

RE:

I'd test to see if T1 extruder is borked in some way. Swap the entire extruder with T2, test both, and see if the problem follows or not. If print issue moves then prob something about the extruder (id guess loadcell) needs some fixing. If issue stays on (new)T1/(originally)T2 then its prob something upstream (wiring, boards, etc).

Hey, BaconFase!

Thanks for the advice.  Unfortunately, switching toolheads did nothing. However, and this is a head-scratcher, I changed filament and the problem went away. I dry my fillament before every print, so I was surprised that it was the problem.

Here's the head-scratcher part:  I took the "bad" filament and loaded it into my MK4S and it printed perfectly.

Not sure what to think, but everything is working well now.

Thanks again for your help.

Are you sure your nozzles were completely clean when you did the nozzle offset calibration.  If you had any plastic on the nozzle the calibration will be off.

Hi, Yes.  I am aware of that. I cleaned all the nozzles and even ran the extruder at temperature on each tool after I unloaded the filament to make sure nothing would oooz out.  I know how picky the offset calibration can be, that is why I spent so much extra time making sure they were clean.
