Printer filament color preview not working

I'm not sure if this is a bug, oversight, or intentional design choice but it's really bugging me. I have a XL 5T and over 40 different colors of filament I use. I've made a profile for each color in PrusaSlicer so I can adjust their settings and so it shows a correct preview when I slice. However, on the XL print preview screen, it is not showing me which color is required for each tool because I have to set the filament color as 'undefined' in PrusaSlicer under the 'printers' tab. If the color is defined in the printer tab then it shows a preview when you go to print on the printer. This isn't useful because I've already defined all my filaments and their colors in the 'filaments' tab and tool 1-5 can be any assortment of colors depending on what I'm printing.

Why does the printer only show me the color preview when it's hardcoded at the tool level in the 'printers' tab? I shouldn't have to define the color under the 'printers' tab when the slicer already knows what color I'm using based off the defined material from the 'filaments' tab.

This is hard to convey in words so please let me know if more explanation or some examples are needed.
