PETG - poor quality on textured sheet (1st layer is OK)

Hi all, I'm having a real head scratcher. PETG is coming out terrible on a textured sheet. PLA looks fine on the same sheet. Doing a Reprint of the same file on a smooth or satin sheet comes out OK.

5TXL. Firmware 6.2.5+8912. Prusa brass 0.4 nozzle. Buddy3d PETG. FYSETC dual sided textured and smooth sheet. PETG nozzle temp 240/Bed 80. PLA 220/bed 80. All other settings the same (except when using non input shaper profile). PETG is tool#1, PLA is tool#2.

I'm mostly just reprinting the same file again and again, and flipping the sheet 180 degrees. The 1st layer looks good on all prints, and I'm not having any bed adhesion problems, so I'm really confused as to what it is about the textured sheet that could cause these horribly ugly layers on PETG. I have noticed that the Z axis seems to bounce a lot mid layer when using the textured sheet. When I flip it over to the smooth side, it doesn't seem to move (at least to my eye) until the layer is done. I don't understand how that could happen if it's the same print file being reused.

Here's a photo showing a series of test cubes

1: PETG. Textured sheet (FYSETC)

2: PETG. Smooth sheet (flip side of FYSETC)

3: PETG. Textured

4: PLA. Textured

5: PETG. Textured

6: PETG. Textured. Recalibrated input shaper for tool#1 prior to this print. Resliced at same settings and sent to printer.

7: PETG. Smooth.

8: PETG. Textured. For this cube, I loaded up one of the old, non-input shaper profiles for the 5TXL.

9: PETG. For this one, I changed the sheet to the satin Prusa sheet that came with the printer.

My hope is that I'm missing something obvious (would not be the first time! 🙄 🤣 )

thanks!

Several of the worst samples seem to have a partial-detachment issue, as if they stuck down firmly on only one side allowing a wobble...

Try giving the sheet a really thorough cleaning .

Cheerio,

The bottoms actually look pretty good, and all of them were well stuck to the sheet, and required a little force to snap off, but I'll give the sheet a better clean and try again.
