Issues with first calibration
Hi there.
I just finished tests & csalibration of my new Prusa XL printer with two printing tools.
I am facing following issues:
1. Fan tests are failing (RPM ones) - both tools are reporting failure even if I can see fans are spinning properly. Swapping tools didn't help, both are reporting failure. Fortunately, I can ignore that for a moment.
2. During tests, a random errror appeared twice - DWARF_1 communication issue, which I fixed by flashing new firmware - didn't occur again fortunately.
3. During the filament sensor calibration second tool is failing, and it looks like motherboard issue because I swapped tools, and it is still failing with second one. It looks like the sensor is detecting the filament (as the state is changing from OFF to ON as appeared on the LCD, however it is not reporting back to the mainboard therefore the only option is to "abort".
4. Despite of this, printer is working fine.
Any suggestions? Shall I report damaged motherboard for replacement? It is brand new printer and I assembled ot following the manual carefully.
Thank you in advance,
For all issues with new/new built printers the best resource is Prusa Support, via chat (faster once the USA has gone to bed) - you will need the serial number of your machine.
Cheerio,
RE: Issues with first calibration
Thank you. I managed sensor calibration (there was a mistake at my and - apparently I was not really careful reading the manual 😎 )
I will ask support what to do with fan tests.
RE: Issues with first calibration
I ran into this fan issue on two of the tools. The trick mentioned in this article got me past it.
Try removing the fan shroud and make the test again. If it passes without the shroud, install the fan shroud back and continue the test. There is no need to remake the test with the shroud.
Interesting that I've repeated the test since then without needing to remove the shrouds.
