How to Get Filament Remaining Out After Spool Runout

I loaded a small  roll of filament on E1 and a new full roll on E2. I used  Spooljoin  to link both rolls with the file I was going to print. It properly used the small roll on E1 and then switched to E2 and finished the print. I tried  to unload  E1 and it doesn't  push remaining filament  out far enough from  the filament sensor to get a hold of. I tried to pull out the tube from  the sensor but it wouldn't come out. I opened the port on E1 but couldn't get a grip on it.  Finally  pulled the tube out of the E1 Festo fitting  and got the filament out. My question is what is the Prusa method to get the filament  out of the tubes?

Best Answer by Extra Fox:

To pull the PTFE tubes out, you'll need to push on the little black collars around the tube at the connections. That will allow the tube to slip out.

My hunch is that if you've got a bit you can't reach, you'll need to use a segment of filament to push the stranded bit out.

I removed the teflon tube to extract the filament.

How did you manage the spool join?  I would love to be able to do this to fully use up my spools of flex filament (not able to use this feature in the MMU with flex)

When you get to the Tools Mapping screen when starting up a print, scroll farther left than you think you can go. Then you can specify which toolheads can act for spool join.
