How do I remove the nozzle on a never been used Nextruder

I have a multi-tool XL that I just got and am putting together.

I would like to put different nozzles in the Nextruders before I finish assembling the printer.  I followed the directions in the Prusa article, but something is locking the hotend in, and it won't come out.  I have loosened the setscrew (it is NOT a grubscrew because I don't see any grubs in there) until it is nearly out, but that doesn't help

Any ideas on how to get it out or what is holding it in?

Thanks in advance.

Assume its this guide you're following https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/how-to-replace-the-prusa-nozzle-xl-multi-tool_506481 .  Step 9 is the set/grub screw you need to only slightly loosen using a T8 screwdriver (it shouldn't be done up very tight) and then the hotend and cables can be moved.  Seems odd yours doesn't move though.  Does it even rotate?

It does rotate, but with difficulty.  It just doesn't come out.  Even the nozzle has great resistance to turning.  I have followed the guide, but something is keeping it from coming out.  I loosened the setscrew until it is nearly out, but it didn't help.  Something else is holding it in.

I am hoping someone on the forum would know what is going on.  On my MK4, which uses a different Nextruder design, it was easy to change nozzles.

Daft question but have you unloaded the filament?  I only ask as I was just doing a hotend swap and like a doughnut I forgot to unload the filament.  Its really hard to remove the nozzle with it loaded!

This extruder has never been used.  There is NO filament in it.  at least there shouldn't be.

Have you tried heating it up to 220C or so?

No-the nozzle has never been used.  No filament is in it.

The only things that hold the nozzle assembly in are:

  • set screw
  • filament
  • heater wire
  • therm wire

If its none of those then maybe your nozzle tube is bent? Shmoo in the extruder's tube cavity?

The nozzle is definetly stuck in the Nextruder.  The other 4 Nextruders have no problems getting the nozzle out.  Something is jammomg it in there.  Looks like a Prusa problem.
