XL initial info
The XL arrived yesterday.
- Assembly was approximately 8 hours
- No big issues, instructions and comments were pretty good
- For torquing all the vertical/horizontal extrusions I used the 'wheel mounting method' of alternating screws as I found torquing one side loosened the other. Basically I did 3 strokes per side alternating between screws. Then I went back and re-torqued everything and found 1 loose screw.
- On self-test the only issue was my initial positioning of the extruder support bar had moved...so I removed the extruder, repositioned the bar, reinstalled the extruders and all was well.
- I migrated from a Qidi X-Max. The increase in machine quality and performance is astounding. The XL is a well done unit in my opinion.
- I suffer from essential tremors, so if I can assemble the XL anyone can.
RE: XL initial info
Ya, torquing the extrusions felt really sketchy at first until I learned that they’re intentionally interference fit and there’s a certain amount of crunch that happens as you go. I did the same as you, 3 turns on each and then I would circle back to other extrusions until I finally felt happy.

RE: XL initial info
Same experience and assembly time spread over 3 days. The prints are better than my mk3S. I am having problems with the Prusa Slicer and new presets. The values I put in the preset edit don't make their way into the G-code. Anyone else having a problem?
