XL gantry warped from enclosure, Prusa denies any warranty.

I finally got my XL at the end of January. I was so excited to use it. I've had various prints fail due to imaginary crashes, firmware crashes, etc., so not very happy with that. As a person who prints engineering grade filaments such as PC, I put my XL in an enclosure to reduce warping. Over time, the supports for the gantry motors warped, and after making me wait over a month Prusa has denied any warranty whatsoever because it isn't an "official product" I used. Not sure how mine is any different from the enclosure Prusa offers. Seems like a slimy way out of helping a customer who spent over $2500 to wait years for a half baked product. I bought a Prusa XL because I loved my MK3s and thought they actually stood behind their products, but I guess I was wrong. Please, if you have an XL, don't buy the enclosure from Prusa, as I doubt they will warranty anything when everyone starts having issues. Mind you, my enclosure only ever got to 100 fahrenheit. The Prusa enclosure seems much tighter than mine so beware melting your $2500+ printer.

declare what type of casing you are using which is one of those that are mostly used, you can check with others that the thing is not systematic... but if for now only you have had the problem... it could be something that is scanning nearby or the engine itself beyond the norm which deformed the plastics

It's a large creality enclosure. I have no idea what else you're talking about.

Your logic makes no sense - Prusa tells you it’s not covered because you didn’t use their official product.. so your advice is “if you have and XL, don’t buy the enclosure from Prusa”

alao that looks like a 3d printed part - can’t you just reprint it in a higher temp resistant material if you want to keep using your unsupported setup?

This is not caused by the use of the housing, but the high temperature of the motor causes the fixing seat to deform due to heat.

That makes sense. Seems like something they should fix under warranty.

The XL should be able to withstand being in an enclosure that is plenty large and not even perfectly sealed. I used a large creality one. So how can the prusa enclosure, which is way tighter sealed, not produce the same defect?

Did you reprint the part?

The current feasible solution is to reprint with ASA

Again not making sense - and not sure you fully read the OP or what I was responding to. He said Prusa declined warranty cause he was using a 3rd party enclosure. So his advice is to not buy the Prusa Enclosure - which is the exact reason his warranty claim was denied. His advice to do exactly what he did, so that you too would not qualify for a warranty claim is what I was responding to. If you want to use a third party enclosure - that is fine. But if Prusa states that it will void the warranty and you advise people to do that… that makes no sense. Is he going to cover your warranty with his advice now that he recommended an action that voids the warranty?

I'm not even sure if there is a warranty claim to be made here.  A 3d part got too hot.  It happens with enclosures.   The hardware still looks good to me.

You get PC CF parts to replace the PETG ones when you purchase the official Enclosure, though I don't think the part you have an issue with has a replacement. Initial belt tension too high?

Those deformed parts look printed from different material than mine. My printer was delivered early march this year, maybe they changed materials?
I'm relatively sure my parts are PC or PC-CF based on the color and matte finish, OP's parts look sparkly ?

I’m not sure if Noah is still around. But if you are I’m willing to print the parts for you.  Just wasn’t sure if you had access to another printer.

I’m in the states. Ohio.

From the XL product page:

You just need to replace several plastic components of your printer (such as a few parts of the nextruder, or the belt holder) with the parts included in the box, which are made of more heat-resistant material (PCCF).

They include the parts needed to address thermal issues when adding an enclosure when you purchase an XL enclosure.  You created your own without considering the thermal problems and now you want Prusa to cover for your mistake.  It's a printed part, so just print a new one (maybe in PCCF) and you'll be on your way.

This is interesting to me, as the instructions for the XL Enclosure really annoyed me with the level of disassembly and part replacement required (especially for someone who bought the "fully assembled" version).  They always knew they were going to make an enclosure, so if they have started making those parts from PC/PC-CF recently, that's going to annoy me.

I had the enclosure before Prusa released theirs. Should I just not print PC or anything that requires an enclosure? Just seems pretty ridiculous after spending so much on a printer you have to disassemble it just for it to work in an enclosure.

Exactly! Why should you have to take apart a very expensive printer that you paid for fully assembled just to replace parts that they didn't feel like printing in high temp material to begin with? You shouldn't! And they never fully disclosed not to use it in an enclosure beforehand. I wouldn't have bought it otherwise. I have taken apart mine to replace the parts and it's a huge pain.
