Nozzle brushes should have been standard. What should be standard?
Just to start with - I love this machine and would absolutely buy another one. This thing is the implement and I think it represents a long term platform for Prusa. It's got a few perplexing choices but it's a damn fine printer and I would recommend it to anyone who's real serious about their printing.
With that said, I feel that nozzle brushes both before and during the print are completely necessary. There needs to be some sort of prusa standard brush set. When these nozzles ooze, it messes up the load cell calibration. They really should brush them every cycle. I wind up with a lot of filament clinging to the nozzle - at this point, the nozzle sock is absolutely imperative or it would be all over the heat block. I would argue that this is the main reason for failed prints and poor print quality on my XL.
Generally, I prefer not to modify my printers with aftermarket parts without a good reason. Prusa knows more about printing than I do, and I think I know a lot about printing. So a first-party set of brushes with PrusaSlicer support would be ideal, as we could just select that as our printer profile. Yes, I know we can do all of this right now, but I want to pay more for it and have it shipped to me from Europe and I want the box to say Prusa on it, regardless of how little sense that makes. I can't figure out why they didn't choose to do this to begin with.
Also, the filament poops on the back are pretty inexcusable. My god, XL, use a coaster. Definitely should have come with a tray.
What type of brush and bucket should be standard for the XL? What should be developed? What material is ideal for brushes? These are questions I feel Prusa is better qualified to answer than I am, so there you go.
RE:
Absolutely with you on this. There is this: https://www.printables.com/model/462473-prusa-xl-series-nozzle-scrubber-brush-update-inclu
But it doesnt solve the main issue during calibration as it only wipes before parking.
This really is my main issue with the printer which in the big picture of things is laughable because it is the best printer I could possibly imagine but this small detail is rather annoying. Just creates the need for babysitting before each print where I would rather have a fully automated workflow.
Edit: Oh I just saw that he also made a front version for exactly that purpose:

Awesome, definitely gonna implement that I think.
