Input shaping and pressure advance are now in public alpha plus maybe other nice changes coming

https://blog.prusa3d.com/update-original-prusa-xl-input-shaper_83744/

Some of these are really nice QoL changes, anyone fortunate enough to work from home and given them a try yet?

Really hope it fix the resonance issue. This printer is just too loud for me to run it at night rn.

I flashed the firmware and got the slicer 2.7 alpha release, but the configuration assistant is not showing the XL with input shaping configurations....

What’s the resonance issue? Is it purely a noise issue or is it affecting print quality?

RE:

I installed the alpha input shaper firmware and PrusaSlicer this morning and have printed with it all day. It seems very stable and is definitely faster and quieter. I haven't noticed any VFAs, but then I've been printing with white filament. I also had to use the new part cancelling feature and it worked great. Fingers crossed it continues to perform without any problems.

In my experience white filament tends to usually do worst/show more flaws so that’s good to hear.

I'm referring to this tread and more specifically you can check this video that prusa said is normal. It doesn't sound normal so I'm wondering if they knew IS would help there.

No indication that it affects print quality but I do have print quality issues so maybe.

I don't think the printer will ever be silent and I'm testing firmware 5.1 alpha.

I deployed XL_firmware_5.1.0-alpha2 firmware and ran Selftest just to be sure. I printed in Input Shaper mode with 5 colors, nozzle 0.6, material Prusament and Filamentum PLA and PETG. In PrusaSlicer I used predefined profiles without modification. Stringing has almost disappeared and printing has become significantly faster.

Although this is an alpha version, the firmware seems to be stable. The Pre-print screen function is excellent, I haven't tested other new features yet. I am generating G-Code in PrusaSlicer 2.6.1 and after updating the config the Input Shaper is available for all XLs and nozzles.

Would love to see an example print. I still see significant stringing but could be the parts I’m printing

I am attaching a photo of the printing process and the resulting print. Print settings 0.25mm Structural

That looks really good. I’ve struggled with small areas of colour so it’s great to see the claws and eyes have come out well.
